About the LINC Social & Emotional Skills Curriculum:
The approach used in the Social & Emotional Skills Curriculum is based on brain science and learning
theory, which have found that the best way to ensure that children really learn something in a way that will
stick with them throughout their lives is to do three things: 1)
interested in learning through exciting, engaging lessons; 2)
the knowledge and skills learned through the lessons fresh and alive;
knowledge and skills in everyday routines and situations. LINC provides these three elements through fun,
exciting puppet lessons, a wealth of follow
throughout your day.
The Five Modules of LINC Social & Emotional Skills Curriculum:
- Stress Management: Staff and children together learn three powerful, brain-based techniques for reducing and managing stress levels that, in turn, increase children's ability to learn.
- Body Space Boundaries: Adults learn the skills of setting boundaries in positive ways in their own lives; children learn how to recognize and respect their own and others' bubbles.
- Problem Solving: Adults learn and practice problem solving skills to use in their personal and work lives; children learn when they need an adult to help solve their "elephant problems" and when and how they can solve their "mouse problems" all by themselves.
- Understanding & Managing Feelings: Children and adults learn together that ALL feelings are okay. They not only learn how to recognize and express their feelings, but also learn some simple brain-based techniques they can use to move from "cloudy" feelings to "sunny" feelings.
- Friendship Skills: Adults and children learn about " Warm Fuzzies,""Cold Pricklies," and how to become "Bucket-Fillers." These concepts are applied to everything that happens in the classroom, helping to create a nurturing environment for children, staff and parents.
